Landstar System is an agent-based, asset-light third-party logistics provider focused on domestic truck brokerage. Historically about half of its truck transportation freight is hauled by leased owner-operators and the rest by third-party broker-carriers. It also offers intermodal, global air and ocean forwarding, and warehousing on a smaller scale, and runs a small business providing insurance programs to captive owner-operators, with a long record of strong execution and operating profitability.
